Spring Strut Mounts
In passenger cars, the spring strut mount is the interface between the spring strut and the chassis. It enables precise and low-friction rotational movement of the spring strut at the front of the vehicle, thereby ensuring optimum contact of the tire with the road. This makes the vehicle easier to steer.
Continental has developed a strut mount in which fiberglass-reinforced polyamide is also used as the primary structural component. It is the first strut mount manufactured from this material to be used for both the front and rear axle in the chassis of passenger cars. The strut mount offers significant advantages over traditional variants manufactured from steel or aluminum, including in particular a weight reduction of around 25 percent and excellent durability.
