Vibration Absorbers/Dampers
The damping characteristics of absorbers are generally adjusted via the elastomer spring. Key characteristics of the support spring, such as service life and the temperature sensitivity of the parameters, can be optimized independently of the damping characteristics.
The brake absorber is attached to the brake calipers and serves to reduce brake caliper vibrations, making it possible to minimize or entirely eliminate specific brake noise. The elastomer spring, which is highly resistant to temperature and aging, is manufactured from synthetic rubber (SBR/CR).
Vibration absorbers are typically used in convertibles. Since the bodies of these vehicle models exhibit less torsional stiffness than the corresponding sedan models, they are more prone to low-frequency-range vibrations. To improve vibration behavior, vibration absorbers with a greater vibrating mass are used.
